Challenge #63 - May

It's may and nearly summer!!! The month of May will always remind me of rainbows so your challenge this month is to interpret Marie's quirky sketch and incorporate bright colours into your creation :)

I'd like to introduce you to a beautiful artist called Tracy Verdugo
She has kindly let us use her 2011 painting called Sacred Waters

Beautiful isn't it? How does it inspire you? Colours, white space, circles or doodles?

What can you create using the sketch, the painting and the rainbow pictures? We would love to see.

Here is what our team has to show:

" I just love the pops of color in the pictures. I had never seen them when Nat "ordered" a sketch from me and the black sketch made this challenge a really tricky one I think"

I was inspired by the “patterned circles” in Tracy Verdugo’s painting. I kept the layout rather white to make the colors stand out. I also used Marie’s sketch but I turned it to the left.

Sara Pettersson

I love the bright colors in the pictures! That inspired me to use my dylusions. Unfortunately they blended more than I expected, but I think it turned out ok anyway. I had the sketch in mind even if it's not obvious... I started to make a black layout, but I simply can't do them anymore, no idea why so I changed to white and that was much easier... :-)

The art work by Tracy Verdugo is fabulous, I love her outlined circles and blending of colors.  Marie's sketch for this month is also fab.  I haven't worked on a plain black background in a long time.  I used the Distress Paints and I just love them!

Jolanda

Here is mine,I love the colorfull bright colors.
Tracey Verdugo's work is amazing and inspiring.
Would love to have some of her work on my wall!!

Kerry:

And this is what you can win if you participate!

So go ahead an link up! You have until June 15 to finish your project.!

May´s Blog Host - Sara Pettersson

Hi there, punky people!

I'm a 38 year old (in a few days) nurse, who's living in the southern part of Sweden with my husband and our two kids.

I've been a punky rebel since september 2011. And I've been scrapbooking since 2006, when I wanted to do my daughters first-year-album. I loved it from the beginning, and it's the first hobby I've kept through the years... Nowadays, I can add running as a hobby too. Thats something I thougth would NEVER happen!

My scrapstyle then? I'm clean and simple and I love mixed media! Gesso, modelling paste, stencils, stamps, paint, mist and so on... Pretty much all that's messy!;-P That's the best part of the punky scraps, you could never get too messy!

Besides  the punky team I'm designing for the Swedish inspiration blog Skrotboken.

You are more than welcome to visit my blog!

#62 - April - Spring is here!

And we bring you a springish sketch for inspiration!
We would really love for you to use a lot of yellow and some feathers (or other eastery stuff).

I tried to stay monochromatic on this layout and only use the color yellow.  Love how bright and sunny it turned out...which inspired my title.

The most eastery thing on my layout is the photo from our ski-trip two years ago, just around easter. The weather was great and my daughter is relaxing in the sun in the afternoon.  Love to scrap in yellow, it makes me happy!!

Lee/Violent Kittie
This photo is from spring of 2005, so it is springy and yellow.  Yellow is a bright and happy color, but it is not one of my "go to" colors.  It's not one of my favorite colors.  I had to balance the yellow with a bit of blue.  Spring brings back blue skies, too, right?

Jolanda
Ohhhh how much I love the colors of spring...well very much!!
This is my girl searcing the golden egg this easter.
I love yellow,it makes me happy!!
Hope the spring will come in here very fast...the teperature is not good over here ( the Netherlands) for the time of the year...so cold!!!

Helene

A lot of yellow, right? And there are feathers on one of the patterned papers. And our daughter dressed as an Easter witch on the photo is eastery. But it’s not very springish… This Easter was quite cold and the poor girl is freezing… (you can see some snow in the photo).

Kerry:

#61 - March

It's nearly spring time, my favourite time of year.  It's fresh, it's bright, it's colourful and it's my birthday.

That means your inspiration for this months challenge is this bright, fresh, colourful party photo!

Helene Bogren

This photo is taken at DD’s birthday party last autumn. The kids all look so cute. But… there’s another photo beneath it… I fastened the photo with some metal hinges so it would be easy to look at both the photos. The background is made with Dylusions Ink Spray, stamps and some acrylic paint.

Marie (Mison) Johansson

I took my inspiration from the girly colors in the picture. Just loved the pops of bright yellow!

Kat:

I focused on the spring theme and tried to use a bunch of spring-y colors in my layout.

Sara

I used the picture as a sketch and took inspiration from the colors. I don't know where all the blue came from though...

Kerry:

I took my inspiration from the birthday theme and used this recent photo of my son blowing his candles out at his 9th birthday party.

 Lee

Making this has given me spring fever.  I am ready to enjoy good weather with good friends.  My yard is still covered in snow, so I will not be sitting outside for coffee any time soon.

#60 - february

It's the month of love so let's go with it this year......pink, flowers and butterflies with a vintage twinge.

For the arty amongst you here is a beautiful image to inspire you!

For the clean, simple and controlled amongst you here is your inspiration.

Happy month of love to you all! We hope you get time to create with either one of these images. Or why not mix it up and use both. As always we look forward to your beautiful creations!

Marie (Mison) Johansson

I was inspired by the colors and in the first picture. Used a for me new technique by sprinkling embossing powder over wet gesso and then dry it. Looks a bit like metallic....

Sara Pettersson

I loved both pictures but decided to go with the last one... I was inspired by the colors and the layout.

Helene Bogren

As you can see I was inspired by the first picture. I also picked up the love theme as the photo shows my loved ones (and is a Valentine gift for them). I sprayed Dylusion Ink Spray, splashed some acrylic paint, stamped a lot of flowers and doodled diamond shapes on the background. My butterflies are chipboards covered with Dylusion Ink Spray.

Lee Thompson

Okay, I used the arty sketch and didn't go pink and girly. Our fellas need love, too! I used the arty inspiration picture, which gives my LO its form. I loved that snake looking thing wrapped around the woman's figure and it inspired me to use the springy wire on this page. And gears and sprockets are like butterflies to boys, right?

Jolanda

Here is mine. I used loads of colors and some flowers... Love the pics to get inspired by. So I thougt I'd use some purple and flowers.

maxell

I was inspired by the first picture where I saw wings and wings it should be.
Handdrawn wings made with a black pen, distress inks and acrylics.
Wings he should spread in order to see how far he can walk... ;)

Kerry

I was inspired by the colours in the first picture and thought they would be ideal for my love of sunset photos.  This photo is from last summer when we had some pretty fierce and powerful sunsets.

Kat:

Such beautiful inspiration from the team :)

Stay tuned for the winners but in the mean time here is the prize for the February Challenge:

As always, like up to the side bar by March :)
